Tips for hikers
A dream for gourmets: Gampe Thaya
A hike to Gampe Thaya is a delight in itself. The three-kilometre-long trail leads through forests and pastures to one of the most beautiful sun terraces in the region. It is hard to tell what is more indulging: the views or the homemade culinary delights. Be sure to try the traditional pancakes called Kaiserschmarrn, and decide for yourself!
Spectacular view: the Brunnenkoglhaus
The four-hour tour to the Brunnenkoglhaus hut requires good physical condition, but the reward is an unrivalled panoramic view. Start at the Timmelsjoch car park and continue over the Wilde Rötespitze, the Rotkogl and the Wannenkarsee until you reach your destination at 2,738 metres.
For hiking enthusiasts: Maria's Alm
At Maria’s Alm, you will be treated to culinary delicacies and Ötztal specialties. The hike leads through the magnificent mountain world and rewards with an impressive view of Sölden. All those who want to take it a bit slower can use the Giggijochbahn for free with the Ötztal Inside Summer Card and hike from the mountain station to Maria’s Alm.
From the hut to the lake: Rotkoglhütte
Standing tall in front of you, Tyrol’s highest mountain, the Wildspitze, grasps your gaze as you hike along this moderate route to the Rotkogl hut and onwards to the Schwarzsee lake. The first part of the trip starts via cable car, followed by a pleasant two-hour hike.
Follow the trail of indulgence
Taste the flavours of local specialities in the Ötztal’s rustic mountain huts, savour exquisite culinary treats at the ice Q restaurant on the top of the Gaislachkogl – one cannot miss out on a delicious meal after a strenuous mountain tour. Tip for epicureans: a gourmet lunch combined with a glass of PINO 3000 at the ice Q.
